The project
Cats need to scratch things to keep their claws sharp and in a good shape. It also reduces their stress and helps release their energy into something. Scratching poles help with this, cats can scratch as much as they want on it, and your furniture doesn't get all scratched up. But the production of scratching posts is bad for the climate, for example the transportation of the material required to create the scratching posts. By having people use material that they already have in their home, like cardboard, it saves a lot of emission of fuels. This results in better climate and less degradation of air quality. A DIY scratching post that is made out of recyclable material can have good effects on the climate. We are going to design a DIY scratching post made out of recyclable material and a manual which guides people on how to make it themselves. Creating a DIY scratch post also saves people their money. The DIY scratch post will use material that everyone has in their home and most likely don't even use it and it puts this material to good use.
